Managing Medical Needs

It is important that we know of any medical problems such as hearing loss, poor eye sight (particularly if glasses should be worn in school) skin or food allergies etc as soon as possible.

You will be asked to fill in a Medical Needs form before your child starts school.

Please ensure that the information regarding this and any emergency contact phone numbers is up to date.

Delays in treatment are likely to occur if parents cannot be contacted quickly.

The school has a Managing Medical Needs policy which states that staff are not permitted to administer medicine to children. In certain circumstances exceptions can be made. Any requests need to be put in writing to the Headteacher.

In the case of long term illness such as asthma or diabetes, special arrangements can be made. This must be organised through the Headteacher and the medication must be brought to the office by an adult.

Please note: in cases of sickness or diarrhoea, a child needs to be clear of such illness for 48 hours before returning to school.

Parents are advised to regularly check their children for head infestation.

The services of the School Nurse, an Audiometrician to test hearing, the Educational Psychologist and Welfare Officer are also available.
